Tajweed (تجويد) literally means to make something excellent. In the context of the Quran, it is the complete body of rules governing how every letter is to be pronounced - from its exact point of articulation to vowel length and letter interaction.
The scholars of Islam have ruled that applying Tajweed in recitation is fard. Reciting without it risks altering the sounds of letters in ways that change meanings.
"And recite the Quran with measured recitation (tarteel)." - Quran 73:4
Our online Tajweed course is not about memorizing a list of rules. It is about training the tongue, ear and breath together under live one-on-one correction until correct recitation becomes second nature.
